Common questions
Do I need an Apple Music subscription?
Yes. shffflr plays your music through Apple Music using your own account — it has no catalogue of its own and cannot play files stored outside it. Individual, Family and Student plans all work.
My library is empty, or artwork will not load
Almost always the Apple Music account connection rather than shffflr. Open Apple's own Music app once and check it can browse; that usually restores it. If Music cannot browse either, the problem is your device's account or Apple's service.
The same song came round twice
At a cycle boundary this is expected. When one cycle ends the pool re-shuffles from scratch, so the last song of one cycle can be the first of the next — about a one-in-n chance. Within a cycle it never happens.
Does shffflr change my library?
No. It never adds, removes, renames or reorders anything in your Apple Music library or your playlists. It only reads.
Where is the shuffle button?
There isn't one. Shuffle is always on — it is the whole app — so a toggle would only ever be switched one way. For the same reason track lists show no track numbers.
Playback stopped responding
Tap Shuffle Play on any playlist, album or artist to start a fresh queue. If nothing plays at all, check Apple's Music app first, then restart the phone — the media service occasionally needs it.
Why does an artist show more songs than I expected?
Shuffling an artist uses their whole discography, deduplicated across albums and compilations — not a top-tracks selection. The list you see is exactly the pool Shuffle Play will draw from.
My Library or Apple Music?
When an album or artist holds different music in your library than it does on Apple Music, shffflr offers both and remembers which you picked. It defaults to your library.
How do I revoke access?
Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music → shffflr. It takes effect immediately. The app cannot work without it, but nothing is kept.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything shffflr stores — your saved queue, your recents, cached listings — lives on your device only and goes with it. There is no server copy, because there is no server.
